Long Draw Road
Long Draw Road on BLM Land
Long Draw Road on BLM land in the Cottonwood Travel Management Area, from its northwest end near S Silvertip Road southeast to its far end, and back the same way. About 8.4 miles one way (onX, secondary; AGF's earlier listing used 8.5). The state road framework line generalizes to about 7.7 miles, so the true length is likely a little longer (AGF estimate): verify by odometer. The approach roads (Cottonwood Road, then N/S Silvertip Road; legal status unverified) are approach only, not part of the rated route.
Easy · Loose, Rutted Dirt Road
NO RECORD OF AGF DRIVING THIS ROUTE: the 3/10 is AGF's estimate, not an AGF run. AGF rates a trail by its hardest unavoidable obstacle in normal dry conditions. Here that is loose, rutted tread: onX (secondary) calls the road "pretty loose and fairly rutted in spots" and also rates it 3. No rock or ledge obstacle is described, and no locker- or winch-level obstacle is documented. Mud is severe when wet, but mud, snow and fire are condition changes, not part of the base rating.
Snow, mud, runoff, deadfall and fire are condition changes, not part of the base rating.
Getting There
No official directions were found; this sequence comes from state GIS road geometry (AGF research): verify before you go. From Bridger, take US-310 south to the Warren area (distance: verify). Turn west onto Cottonwood Road and follow it northwest to its end, then continue onto N Silvertip Road and S Silvertip Road south along the ridge. Both cross private land and their legal status is unverified: verify with BLM Billings (406-896-5013) and Carbon County. The Cottonwood Road–N Silvertip Road link is not confirmed in state GIS (the mapped ends are about 0.4 mile apart): verify with Carbon County. Long Draw Road leaves S Silvertip Road at about 45.103, -108.962 (state GIS, not field-verified) and runs southeast. Return the way you came. Stay on the road through private land.
The pin marks the northwest end of Long Draw Road near S Silvertip Road (Montana State Library road framework coordinate; not field-verified). BLM land-status data shows BLM land there. The southeast end is at about 45.0274, -108.8538 (same source); no public road connection from it was confirmed. No downloadable track is published: AGF's GPS archive has no track within 20 km of this route.
