Honda Night:Red, Yellow, Tiny
A red second-gen Honda CRX parked next to my yellow Beat under a wall of neon. Two of the best small cars Honda ever built, nose to nose.

The Parking Lot Did the Work
Some nights the photo takes itself. My yellow 1991 Honda Beat rolled in, a red second-generation CRX was sitting right there, and the whole scene was lit up by neon, burrito signs and keno lights.
The CRX is the 1988–1991 car most people picture when they hear the name: a tiny two-seat hatchback with a chopped tail, a glass panel across the back and a reputation for being way more fun than its horsepower says. The Beat is Honda's 1991 mid-engine kei convertible with a 656cc three-cylinder that revs to the moon.
Put them side by side and you've got the whole philosophy of '80s and '90s Honda in about 23 feet of car: light, cheap, simple and grinning the entire time.
The CRX is even wearing a fresh Montana temp tag in the windshield, which means somebody just made an excellent decision.
I said I was a Honda guy now. Apparently the parking lots heard me.
